US producer inflation eased across the board: headline PPI
slowed to 2.6% (vs. 3.3% in July), core softened to
2.8% (from 3.4%), and monthly PPI slipped
-0.1%. All prints came in below expectations,
reinforcing market conviction
of a Fed rate cut next week.
In contrast, Eurozone inflation is now close to the
ECB’s 2% target, with wage pressures
easing—supporting a policy pause. ECB’s steady
stance versus Fed’s likely cut widens the
relative policy gap, favoring euro strength.
US CPI is projected to firm at 2.9% YoY and core at 3.1% YoY.
