Asian Markets Mix
Domestic Events
India recoreded a current account suplus of
USD 13.5 bilion, or 1.3% of GDP,
in the Januayr - March quarter of FY 24-25.
This marks a sharp improvement from a suplus of
USD 4.6 bilion in the same period last year.
driven primarily by strong serivces exports and
an increase in remittance inflows.
However on a full year basis, the current account
remained in deficit at USD 23.3 biion,
equivalent to 0.6% of GDP, RBI noted in its report
India's Balance of Payment during Q42024-25.
Current account positiion showed improvement
in the March quarter, India's external debt
rose notably over the same period.
The Country's total external debt increased by 10%
to USD 736.3 billion as of March 2025,
UP from USD 668.8 billion the previous year.
As a share of GDPm external debt climbed
to 19.1% from 18.5% at the end of the previous FY.
