US Markets : 5th day of Losses
S&P Dow slips over 150 points
The S&P Global PMI surveys highlighted strong
momentum in the US economy. The composite
PMI climbed to 55.4, slightly higher than July's 55.1,
whilte the Mfg PMI jumped to 53.3, a sharp rebound
from 49.8 in july and well above the forecast of 49.5
US jobless claims rose to 235000 in the latest week,
above expectations of 225000 and the prior 224000,
marking an eight week high and reinforcing signs
that the labor market is gradually cooling.
The Philadelphia Fed Mfg Survey (August)
unexpectedly contracted to -0.3, coompared with
market expectations of 7 and the July reading of 15.9
Atlanta Fed Bostic said that inflation remains
above target, adding that the Unemployment Rate is
consistent with full employment for some time.
