US government shutdown has extended to
the thirteen straight day, leaving traders leaning
on the resolution of the shutdown and
speeches by Fed officials.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said
on that Trump remains on track to meet
Chinese leader Xi Jinping in South Korea in
late October as the two sides try to de-escalate
tensions over tariff threats and export controls.
Philadelphia Fed Anna Pausol was dovish,
saying that signs of weakness in the labor market
suggest that the Fed should be more worried about
the jobs market, than fighting inflation.
Renewed US-China trade tensions and
Fed rate cut expectations boost the
Gold price towards $4150.
Money markets are expecting the BoE
to hold rates unchanged, pricing in the
next adjustment until March 2026,
as inflation is double the bank’s target.
